Assima DACG Ltd has worked with consumer goods giant Unilever on the implementation of SAP 4.7 on a series of major projects around the world.
The first involved the training of more than 2,000 employees of Unilever’s food division across the USA, Middle East and Turkey in 18 months – in which Assima DACG consultants based in Istanbul had to build training materials in English; translating and localising them for each phase.
The success of this project led to a three-year European SAP upgrade and training programme in which Assima DACG provided SAP 4.6 training for employees in Unilever’s Home and Personal Care Europe (HPCE) divisions in the UK, Germany, Holland and Italy. The project included localisation of training materials and the preparation of the training system, and was later extended to include more employes from France, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Belgium.
Assima DACG’s work with Unilever was recognised when it won the Gold Award from the independent Institute of IT Training for ‘External Project of the Year’ in the IT Training Awards 2002.

Train 5,700 SAP users across Europe, North America and Mexico in just eight weeks! That was the task facing Assima DACG when it was appointed by Continental Group to help it switch all its processes from a mix of older SAP systems to the SAP R/3 system.
A global manufacturer of vehicle tyres, electronics, brake and drive systems, Continental has 65,000 employees and more than 80 production plants worldwide, and the SAP introduction initially involved 15 tyre factories and 17 business units across 19 countries.
Assima DACG decided on a two-stage training concept, training key users and power-users first. These would later carry out business acceptance and integration testing. The second stage would involve training day-to-day users in North America and Mexico, followed by those in 16 European countries. Continental required the courses to be delivered in the national language of each of the countries.
The blended learning solution developed by Assima DACG involved classroom sessions, an online help facility, and simulation training to be undertaken when staff needed it. Assima DACG trainers developed 60 training courses and created 30 simulation lessons, as well as additional training support items.
All deadlines were met, and a programme to evaluate user feedback into the effectiveness of the training scored four out of five. The project was subsequently rolled-out in other countries including Brazil, Russia and South Africa.

Assima DACG has worked in close partnership with Diageo for several years, the world’s premier drinks company.
The relationship began when Assima DACG was appointed by Diageo Business Services (DBS), whose employees needed training and support on a new SAP application and new business processes. Assima DACG consultants, in partnership with DBS staff, developed extensive training support and documentation materials, and used the DA Learning Centre™ to deploy simulation lessons and competency checks, in addition to context sensitive online help functionality.
This innovative end-user support platform was a finalist in the Institute of IT Training Award category for ‘E-Learning Project of the Year 2002’
Recognising the excellent working relationship, DBS then awarded Assima DACG a significant contract extension to support the subsequent phases of Diageo’s SAP roll-out across Europe, particularly in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Spain. This contract extension alone was valued at approximately $1,000,000.

Assima DACG underlined its public sector capabilities when it provided training delivery and materials for 700 employees of Norfolk County Council to support the introduction of the authority’s new Financial Information Management Project (FIMS).
FIMS was set to have a significant impact on the way NCC was run, and Assima DACG was chosen following the government’s catalogue-based procurement scheme S-CAT. NCC also liked Assima DACG’s unique approach to developing customised, fit for purpose support materials at a competitive price, and ‘its vast experience in delivering e-learning projects’.
The design and delivery of a blended solution of instructor-led training and e-learning simulation training on Oracle 11.5.9 software involved seven Assima DACG consultants, supported by the project’s functional core team and Norfolk County Council Change Agents: employees seconded from the business to support the training delivery and ensure the accuracy of training content.
In all, Assima DACG created some 260 e-learning lessons and delivered 17 facilitated training courses over a period of 10 weeks.

Based on its track record with Blue Chip clients, Assima DACG was appointed as a specialist training partner by RMC Group plc to ensure it made the most of a new IT investment.
RMC is one of the world’s leading producers of building materials – with 8,000 employees in the UK – and when it decided to conduct a major overhaul of its business processes, it chose SAP as a means of managing and reporting on complex information from a variety of sources.
Assima DACG’s challenge was to create and deliver a comprehensive training programme that would ensure employees at all levels – across 400 UK locations – would be prepared for the change.
Assima DACG identified the needs of everyone involved, and used a variety of training methods including computer-based and instructor-led classroom training. Additional elements for post-go-live support, including face-to-face coaching, floor-walking and monitoring were also employed.
At the end of the 18-month project, Assima DACG’s 12 consultants had trained 900 employees in 7,217 delegate training days – 16 days ahead of schedule and well within budget.
